Reviewing July

reviewing july.png

I know I say this every time but HOW IS JULY OVER?? I can’t believe that August starts in just a couple days (also I know this post is a little early but I didn’t want to post twice on Wednesday and that’s when my camp nano post goes up. Confused yet? Me too 😂

Anyway, today I’m going to be recapping my month and sharing some of my favorite moments + my goal recap.

Because of the Brave (1).png

Happy Fourth of July!!

What are y’all doing today? We don’t have anything planned but I’m sure we’ll celebrate somehow 🙂

freedom

For you have been called to live in freedom. Use your freedom to serve one another in love.

Galatians 5:16

Today we (well, Americans) are celebrating the freedom of our country – something that I’m very grateful for! I’m so glad that America is a free country – that we are the land of the free because of the brave ❤ Our freedom is something awesome to celebrate – but I know an even better freedom to celebrate. The freedom from sin.

Let me start at the very beginning (the very best place to start – did you catch my reference?). We were created in a perfect world, where we walked with God and everything was perfect. The problem – we sinned. We no longer walked with God. Life was no longer perfect. Brokenness, for the first time, was introduced to the world. And we live in a constant cycle of brokenness, even today. Brokenness is in the core of all of us – even if we try to cover it up. Brokenness is something we can never defeat by ourselves. Sin is something we can never defeat by ourselves.

We are slaves to sin. And we need freedom.

And that’s exactly why Jesus came. Jesus came to defeat sin, brokenness and death forever. And He did. He set me free. He set you free. He set us free!

John 8:36 – “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

And that’s exactly what I’m celebrating – freedom from brokenness and sin.

That’s why today – where we celebrate our freedom – is so special. Because I’m reminded that I’m physically free, but not only that: I’m reminded that I am truly free.

Because of Jesus, I am free. Are you?

Introducing my July Camp NaNo project

camp nano (july 2019).png

I am SOO excited for Camp Nano this month!! I think (actually, I know) that I’m a lot better prepared this time (compared to April) and it’s going to be so much fun.

I finally came up with a name (I think) for my “untitled novel”  – it’s “Legacy”. I like it, but knowing me, I may end up changing it 😛 But for now, it’s Legacy!

In April, my goal was 5K words… this time it’s 20. Every day that I write, I want to write at least 1K, but we’ll see. Oh – and I did make a couple mock covers – I’m going to share my favorites today.

legacy.png
This one might be my favorite – the background picture is rather grainy (it’s from unsplash) but I still like it!

I love… and hate this one? It’s perfect but at the same time it’s not lol

This one is super simple which is part of its beauty but I’m not so sure xD

Also – here’s the inspiration board again in case you forgot 🙂

Novel Inspo Board (1)

Hopefully I’ll be able to post an update every week on how writing is going!

camp is going to be awesome!!! are you doing it this month?

July Goals

July Goals.png

I CANNOT believe that it is already July!! I still have about two months of summer left (school starts the last week of August) but I have barely touched on my goals. I definitely want to do better this month!

I don’t have many goals but some are pretty hard (hint: exercise). I’m also doing camp nano this month (look out for a post about that on Wednesday and the first update on Friday) so I think I’ll be pretty busy 🙂 Plus I want to do a LOT better with blogging (soo sorry for not posting for a couple weeks! tbh I was just dreading sitting down and writing/formatting/coming up with a good post) ANYWAY… time for goals!

july goals

  • get started on room redo – I have been putting this off for FOREVER even though it’s fun. I need to at least start – whether that’s decluttering, shopping, or something else!
  • earn $25 – It might not seem like much (it’s not!) but I haven’t been doing very well with this so I need to get started again.
  • make bread – agg this is fun but also really time-consuming so I’ve been putting it off. I really do need to do it, though!
  • finish the Old Testament – You guys, I’m SO close!! I’m pretty sure I’m in Habakkuk, which means I only have a few very short books to go! Yay 🙂
  • do a 30 day prayer challenge – Prayer is something that’s hard for me, so I want to do a 30 day challenge and really make it a habit.
  • walk/run a total of 50 miles – yeah this is pretty crazy. Basically, I want to move for 50 miles this July! That’s about 2 miles every day for 6 days a week. I’m not sure I can do this but I really really want to!
  • make cookies – this is not something I put off… lol I love this!! Can’t wait to do it 🙂
  • camp nano – Like I said, I’ll get into more detail about my project this July on Wednesday!

july habits

My habits this month are:

  • prayer
  • bible reading
  • exercise
  • wake up early/earlier

july bujo

I did make a bujo this month, but I don’t really love it. I’m still going to use it but I’m kinda hesitant to share pictures because it’s not the best! I decided to though just because it doesn’t really matter if it looks great anyway (even though I’m only sharing the good pages… haha)!

My 50 miles tracker/fitness tracker

My word tracker for camp nano (messy, but I think it’ll work!)

My blog spread 🙂 Super important even though it’s really messy lol

And my calendar – including the crayon drawn 4th of july thingy. xD

Do you have any goals for this month?

Summer Outfit Ideas

Copy of Shared Room.png

Summer is HERE! Though the break from school is awesome, the heat is horrible. Here in Florida it’s been feeling like 100 degrees since March. AGG!!

Today I decided to share some outfit ideas that are great for the summer but are still modest!

I’m not really a dress person unless it’s church or something like that, but this dress makes me want to be! It would be perfect for vacation because it’s super simple but would go with everything. I love the fact that it looks really lightweight and comfy too!

Portofino Coast Navy Blue Striped Button-Up Tie-Front Top

It might just be me, but I’ve been seeing shirts like this one everywhere lately and I love it! I would probably add a tank top because the neckline is a little low for me, but it would be perfect with white jeans/shorts.

While these aren’t only for summer, I wanted to share a staple in my closet: bermuda shorts! I like this style of shorts because of their length: it’s SO hard to find shorts that are long enough.

I know I just told you guys that I’m not really a huge dress person, but I think I *might* be changing? I found so many dresses that I would actually love to wear! This one is cute or summer/fall and I love the length – I HATE those dresses that come down to the middle of your lower leg (whatever that means)! Give me a dress that comes to my knee or my feet, but not between! (sorry for the rant there)

Eep I actually really love this dress 😍  I love the white background/pattern and the ruffle, but I wish it was sleeveless.

I love the shirt 🙂  This outfit is so easy but it looks great. Again, the shirt is super versatile (can you sense the trend?)!

Let’s face it, this is what I end up wearing every day. But this girl manages to actually look good in it… HOW?! It must be the Starbucks. *nods*

This outfit is so simple but it’s adorable! Personally, I think I would wear a shirt without the “ripped” neckline just because it’s not really my style (even though it’s not super low). Same goes for the ripped jeans, but I actually like that pair!

It was harder to find things than I thought! One thing that was hard was staying off Etsy! I’m actually going to be sharing my favorite things on Etsy soon, so look out for that! 💕

My Goals for this Summer

Copy of Struggles older sibling.png

Just warning you: my list of goals for this summer is… pretty long. And I doubt I’ll finish half of them. But that’s okay! I’ve never actually done summer goals before *fp* but I wanted to try them out this year.

  • Complete “A Trip to Spain” summer reader for Spanish – My Spanish teacher gave us this… workbook? reader? for the summer and I want to do it. It’s got little stories in Spanish that you have to translate and then questions 🙂
  • Deep clean/reorganize room – I already posted about this (shared room inspiration board) but I actually need to do it now.
  • Make a study/school plan for 2019-2020 school year – Let’s face it – I never actually use these. But I want to make one just the same… enough said.
  • Practice piano daily – I want to improve my skills (and maybe start violin?) this summer!
  • Workout 3 times a week – My original goal was daily… but that’s SO hard for me, so I decided to make it easier.
  • Make ten blog posts every month – Eeep this is going to be hard but it’s summer so I have time right? (shakes head)
  • Prepare six blog posts for backup – I like to have several posts already written ready to post if necessary, plus if I go on vacation or something it’s a lot easier.
  • Find babysitting opportunities/babysit twice – Right now I only babysit for my family, but I want to start doing it for other people (probably from our church/family members)
  • Earn $50 – It might not be much, but I don’t want to push myself too hard.
  • Read at least 10 books from summer reading list – I might end up sharing this with you guys (it’s kinda boring though) but I made a summer reading list and I want to read at LEAST 10 books from it (I’ll read more than 10 books this summer for sure, but this is from the list)
  • Do a 30-day photography challenge – I’ve gotten really bad at taking pictures daily, and I want to do a challenge where I do a prompt daily for a picture 🙂
  • Drink more water (big full bottle daily) – I am SO bad at drinking water, and I need to change that this summer!
  • Make bread twice – Making bread is something I want to do a lot more than I do now (it’s SO fun, but it takes a lot of time). I want to make it at least twice this summer.
  • Reorganize desk – pretty obvious!
  • Journal three times a week – I’m bad at journaling daily, so I want to do it three times a week instead.
  • Eat healthier – SO bad at this!! I want to change that (probably going to fail but whatever)
  • Memorize 10 bible verses – It might not seem like much, but I definitely want to do this 🙂
  • Make a long list of post ideas – Just so I can have ideas for posts!
  • Keep room *really* clean – This is hard (especially when you’re sharing!) but I want to get really good at this this summer.

Those are my summer goals! What are yours?

July Review + August goals

letter-h-hello-animation

Just warning you, this is not going to be your typical monthly review + goals post. I’m taking another quick break so I’m writing this post a couple weeks ahead. Here are the changes (only for this month):

  • No goals review
  • No stats/blog posts

What IS going to be in this post:

  • Monthly reading list
  • Photos from this month

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get started!

July review graphic #1.jpg

Obviously, this isn’t everything I read this month, but here are some of the things I read.

All Four Stars- Tara Dairman

The Stars of Summer- Tara Dairman

Stars So Sweet- Tara Dairman

The Photograph- Beverly Lewis

The Covenant- Beverly Lewis

The Betrayal- Beverly Lewis

The Sacrifice- Beverly Lewis

The Prodigal- Beverly Lewis

The Revelation- Beverly Lewis

Okay, I admit it. These were only the 2 series I read. I read a lot more books in this, but I wanted to keep it simple.

I reread the “Four Stars” Series by Tara Dairman and realized that I didn’t love it as much as I though. I honestly would recommend the first one but not the others. Wait… there’s a BIG cliffhanger, maybe don’t read them at all?

I read a new single novel by Beverly Lewis- The Photograph. It was so intriguing, I would recommend.

I also read all of the ‘Abram’s Daughters” books and loved them. Get them all at once, you will be reading only them for 2-3 days straight. I’m pretty sure I’ve read all of Beverly Lewis’ books’s and reread them very often. She’s a favorite author of mine.

July review graphic #2.jpg

The header may be a little misleading and confusing. I’ve seen blog posts where you “vlog”, as in you can’t backspace and you have to include every work you type without editing. So, I decided to do that with my camera roll. I’m going to include every picture EXCEPT the ones that show my/a family member’s whole face. And to make it easier for you, I made a slideshow showcasing the photos!

Not very much, but hopefully you enjoyed! I hope to add these categories to my monthly posts now!
