I’m so excited for today’s post because I’m collabing with an amazing teen blogger and friend! Maryam is a “minimalist, intersectional feminist, blogger, and creative”, according to her profile on her blog, but in this post, you’ll learn even more about her!

head over to maryam’s blog to see my answers to the questions she asked me!

I’ve done several collabs in the last month or so (check out my interview with Zainab at Zainab Chats!) and I think they’re such a fun way to connect with other blogs and maybe even find another favorite blogger. My hope for this post is that you all learn more about Maryam and hopefully follow her blog (which is absolutely gorgeous!) ❤

In which two homeschooled bloggers collab

Recently, Ariana and I found out that we go to the same school: VSA!! (Veritas Press Academy in case you didn’t know)

So, we decided to do a home/online school collab.

My answers will be in this color, and Ariana’s will be in this color.

Warning: You are going to ENJOY this!!!

Have you been homeschooled all your life?
Nope! My mom taught me to read when I was 3, and she taught me for 1st grade. Then, long story short, we had a family crisis, so I went to school for the 2-4th grades. I’ve been homeschooled for the last few years though.

Yes! Till the day I die. (Song reference), lol. But, yes, I have. 😃

What is your favorite thing about homeschooling?
I definitely agree with Ariana’s answer. So true!! I also love the flexibility and added family time.

Hum…in homeschooling I am taught how to think, not what to think. Some schools just teach for test, not for life.

What is your favorite subject?
#Omnialltheway I think it’s safe to say that I’m an Omnibus fan… LOL!

History, history, history. 😊

Do you play an instrument? If not, do you want to?
I do play an instrument… piano! I’ve been doing it for 6 years now?

I am learning to play the guitar.  It is really fun!

Are there times when you don’t want to be homeschooled?
Sometimes… when I go into my emotional girl moments… XD! But overall, no! I love being homeschooled.

Hum…no, not really.

Do you do a co-op?
Not unless you count VSA.

No idea what is, so no.

Is your mom your only teacher?
Nope! I have 6 teachers besides her.

No, I do VSA.

Did you enjoy this? I know it was short, but it was fun to write. I hope that Ariana and I will do more collabs in the future!

Did you enjoy hearing me fangirl over Omnibus?? Let me know down in the comments if you are an #OmniGirl!!

The Interview

Today is the day… we are going to prove that Julia and Rebekah are twins!

Are you excited! I sure am!!! I interviewed both Julia and Rebekah with the same questions… so let’s see how similar the answers are. If I comment on their answers, I will write in this color.

What are some goals for your new writing blog?

Julia: First of all, I want to glorify God through whatever I do – including my blog! I also want to use it to share my passion for writing (and the writing itself!) and encourage others by it!
Rebekah: I’d like to be consistent in posting at least once a week (I stick to a pretty consistent schedule for my toy blog, but I’ve never been too consistent in personal blogging). Another one of my goals is to improve my writing in general — developing a blogging voice, writing more poetry and short stories, becoming better equipped in writing skills, and maybe I’ll even start a novel of my own and post updates! As always, I one of my main long-term goals is for my posts to be nice and professional and interesting, and for my design to be pretty. 😉 I don’t have many goals for followers, but it would be awesome if I could expand my audience. However, my main goal is really to glorify God in whatever I do, and my new writing blog is no exception.
Both of them want to glorify God in whatever they do- great!
Julia: First of all, I want to glorify God through whatever I do – including my blog!
Rebekah: However, my main goal is really to glorify God in whatever I do, and my new writing blog is no exception.
They both phrased it the same way too, so according to the first question, Julia and Rebekah are twins!

What are some interesting facts about yourself?

Julia:  Ahhh… this should be fun. Let’s see… I’m half Filipino, and that’s a great starting point for one of the stories I’m writing. I also love rollerblading, and that’s why I was able to ace figure skating on my first try. XD I’m currently on a no-gluten, no-sugar, no-starch, no-dairy, no-eggs diet. XD And I love Larabars because of it!

*rubs hands together evilly* Ooh, here we go!
– I’m the youngest child.
– I like to code.
– My favorite day of the week is Saturday because I get to go to a music and art academy for pretty much the entire day.
– I don’t have many friends, but the ones I do have are really close. (I prefer a few close friends to many pseudo-friends.)
– I’m overly sensitive.
– Who else likes watching those really short, sped-up cooking tutorials?!
– I’m always a multitasker, sometimes a procrastinator, and seldom productive.
– I participate in the National Bible Bee!
– I like making miniature food out of salt dough clay.
– Someday I’d like to compose hymns.
Oh, well the question was broad… so. But sadly, both of them are not the youngest child or half Filipino (as far as we know… XD!) Minus one twin point. 😞

How did you first get into writing?

Julia: I think I first starting writing in first grade, when I begged my mom to trade out some of the boring journal entry assignments in spelling for story writing. That was fun. I think I might still even have those! I started writing my first book when I was eight but abandoned it after eleven pages. XD The first long piece that I ever finished was when I was ten – a 50-something page book!

Rebekah: Well, the first story I ever remember writing was an *extremely well-written* (note the sarcasm), scribbled, one-pager that I set onto paper when I was bored during church at about the age of three. It was about a hog who met a frog who met a three-year-old “people.” EmojiEmoji

Both of them got into writing, but not at the exact same time. This won’t add or subtract any twin points.

How would you describe your writing style?

Julia:  Well.. hmm.. this is rather tricky. I prefer writing in first person, past tense, and I love fantasy or historical medieval fiction. Those are probably my favorite things to write. I’m a little overly-descriptive, I’ve been told, so I’m trying to refrain from going into detail on things!

Rebekah: I  do a lot of describing; I’m definitely not concise. I have a lot of dialogue in my stories, I tend to write in first person, and yeah.

This one definitely adds a twin point- yay! Both of them prefer writing in first person and describe a lot.

What are some tips for beginning writers?

Julia: Don’t give up. Never, ever give up. It’s so, so, so easy to just let go of your dreams and watch them float away. Don’t do it. Don’t give up. Just persevere and keep writing!

Rebekah: I’m definitely not a professional or anything, but…well, first of all, good grammar/punctuation/spelling are pretty important! You don’t have to be a pro or anything (I certainly am not), but avoiding five-year-old grammar mistakes tends to be easy and definitely adds to whatever you’re writing. 🙂 Some other tips are to use descriptive words in place of boring ones and to have someone to hold you accountable.

And lastly? Just write. No matter how bad you think it is, KEEP WRITING.
Yay! Another twin point for sure. They both said to keep writing!

The question: Are Julia and Rebekah twins???

Find out in…

On 3/5 of the questions, they got twin points. According to this, JULIA AND REBEKAH ARE TWINS!!!

Let’s cheer! Hooray! Let’s throw a party!

I definitely agree that twins do not need to be exactly alike. This was just for fun, and you do NOT have to be alike to your twin if you have one.

🎈🎈🎁🎁🎂🎂 All the party emojis… one for each girl!

Reveiw of Design Pique Studios+New Blog Design!

Hey guys! As you probably know, Mukta recently redesigned my blog. If you haven’t  seen it yet because you’ve been reading my posts in your reader or your email or not at all, then come see it! It’s absolutely gorgeous. Mukta took my hard to understand vision and made it into the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen.

Let’s take a look!

What Mukta did:

  1. Picked a new theme (I love the open, clean layout)
  2. Designed an AMAZING header.
  3. Designed a blog button and post schedule.
  4. Designed headers for all the site pages and sidebar elements.

Check out the site if you haven’t already. I am in LOVE with the design *heart eyes emoji*

Review Of Design Pique Studios

Design Pique Studios is Mukta’s professional unprofessional business (you’ll see what I mean in a moment).

One thing you must know about Design Pique Studios is that it is an unprofessional business that designs professionally. Mukta’s business is free, but her designs are professional. This may make you think twice, but when you see the designs she’s done (she does book covers too), you’ll fall in love with her company.

Design Pique Studios has designed plenty of blogs and book covers, so naturally, Mukta is very busy. However, she was very kind (even when I disturbed her on vacation… twice) and always found time for our emails. We were able to get the design completed in less than two weeks.

Overall: I love Design Pique Studios and recommend it to you, whoever you are :). It’s very professional, not pricey at all, and easy to do. She makes the process so simple and easy and I really do recommend her.

Check Design Pique Studios out here!

I also have something extra special for you…

Interview with Mukta

You guys are going to love this. Definititly check  out Mukta’s blog and design website.

How long have you been blogging? (also, can you send a link to your blog in the answer?)

I’ve been blogging over at my personal blog, Born Free for four years now! (I know right, sounds like forever 😉 )

What are your goals for your blog and business?

For my blog, well, my dreams are like anyone else’s. To meet and get to know people who share my interests, and to hope that every step I take is towards improvement. As for my business, it began as an experience for my working in the design field, and by far it has proved to be worth every minute I spend in it.

What are some interesting facts about yourself?

Well, I am an excessive sweater no matter what time of the year. I am an INFP-T and a somewhat fitness freak. 😛 I can officially not dance if my life depended on it, haha. AND I have both sleepwalked and sleeptalked on some long-gone day in my life, I trust.

How did you first get into blogging?

It began with my dad, actually. I had no idea what a blog was, and my dad started it to post some of my early writings and such, but now it is taken over by me completely and am glad it is so.

How would you describe your blogging style?

I would say… all over the place? It doesn’t have a fixed theme, really, so I post anything that I enjoy. The whole purpose of my blog revolves around the idea of preserving what I enjoy, so to say. J

What are some tips for beginning bloggers?

Well, I certainly would say that it takes time to get in the groove. Rocky days are normal, not feeling motivated is normal, so if you want to be a blogger, you’ll have to be up for all of it.

What is your favorite design tip?

Well, my work motto (the one I just made up a moment ago) is ‘When all else fails, clipping masks are your saviour’. And seriously, if you’re having trouble designing your blog, take it easy- find a font you like, find a texture you like, put the texture on. That works magic, trust me. 😉

Did y’all enjoy that? I loved hearing Mukta’s answers!
