WHAT I LEARNED FROM TAKING A LADYBOSSBLOGGER COURSE (+ discount code)

I’ve been blogging for over 4 years (which is CRAZY… my brand & style has come a longg way from the beginning lol) but I feel like I still have soo much to learn about creating content. It can feel overwhelming because there are so many different resources out there – but I don’t want to spend money or time on something that won’t actually work. Recently I’ve been wanting to take a step forward with my blog because I feel like I’ve almost been in a plateau for the last year/few months.

That’s where LadyBossBlogger comes in! I had heard about their courses before so when I had the opportunity to collaborate with them and take the Grow Christian Blog course I was really excited! To be honest, in the back of my mind, I thought “maybe this will be like the other stuff about blogging I’ve heard over and over… be patient, connect with other blogs, etc”. That’s where I was wrong. I learned so many new things that I had never heard before that I can’t wait to share with you guys!

CALLING ALL BLOGGERS: Get featured on Christina’s Convos

Soo you know how I’ve been telling you guys to keep those tips handy? Well, now is the time to pull them back out!

null

If you’re a blogger and you’ve learned some things about blogging that you’d love to share, here is your chance!

I would love to feature you on my podcast, Christina’s Convos. It’s a podcast all about blogging, and any blogger, no matter how successful, can listen to it!

Note: Guys, it does not matter how many followers you have. If you have a lot, that’s great and you’re doing a really good job, but if you only have ten and you think you’ve learned something, you can still share!

Maybe I’d like to share some tips. How do I do it?

Great question! If you’d like to share some tips, there are two ways you can do it.

  1. You can comment below sharing all your tips (and a link to your blog if you’d like it to be shared!)
  2. You can contact me through my contact form (with a link to your blog!)

I don’t really think I have any good tips, though!

That’s okay! I’m sure you do, though 🙂 Sometimes when you’ve been blogging for a while, you forget what it was like at the beginning and some habits you’ve formed since then. If you think back, maybe you can remember!

Excuse me for the (very) short post! I’m looking forward to seeing your tips, though 🙂

just how much work is blogging (really)?

post featured image (1)

I thought this post would be fun for other bloggers as well as those of you who don’t have your own blog! Making it was actually really fun for me as well- except the math. 😁

g r a p h i c s

On average, it takes me about 5 minutes to create a graphic- not a lot, right? But since I blog twice a week, that’s 10 minutes a week and 40 minutes a month! And 480 minutes a year! And that’s just post graphics. That doesn’t even include redesigning, or my “well, hello” graphic, or anything else! 😲

Weekly- 10 minutes

Monthly- 40 minutes

Yearly- 480 minutes (or 8 hours!)

p h o t o s

On average, a photoshoot takes me about 30 minutes. Basically I carry my camera around and take random pictures. I don’t do this as often as I’d like (only about once a week 😞) but it still adds up!

Weekly- 30 minutes

Monthly- 120 minutes (or 2 hours!)

Yearly- 1440 minutes (or 24 hours- or ONE DAY!)

p o s t s

For me, writing a post takes me about an hour! But since that includes making a post graphic, research, and photos, I’m going to take it down to about 45 minutes. Still, that’s a lot of time! 😱

Weekly- 90 minutes (or 1.5 hours!)

Monthly- 360 minutes (or 6 hours)

Yearly- 4320 minutes (or 72 hours- or THREE DAYS!)

r e a d i n g // i n t e r a c t i n g

While this isn’t necessary, I do comment/interact with other bloggers. However, I’d do that anyway so I’m going to take that time off. For each post, replying to all of your sweet comments takes about 15 minutes- spread out over time, however.

Weekly- 15 minutes

Monthly- 60 minutes (or 1 hour)

Yearly- 720 minutes (or 12 hours 😂)

o t h e r

I have a podcast and email list, which I count as part of blogging. The email list takes about 15 minutes to make weekly, and I also send out a reminder for the podcast weekly that takes 5 minutes (copy and paste 😜) Making each episode of the podcast, however, takes about 60 minutes. Making the show notes takes around 30 minutes and actually recording takes 20, but I do a couple takes and also edit it! So on a good day, it takes an hour.

Weekly- 80 minutes (or 1 hour and 20 minutes)

Monthly- 320 minutes (or 5 hours and 20 minutes)

Yearly- 3840 minutes (or 64 HOURS 😱)

YOU GUYS. When I started this post I was expecting a LOT less time. This really scares me… I know why bloggers take breaks now.

every year, I blog for approximately….

10860 minutes

-OR-

181 hours

-OR-

7 days and 13 hours

You guys i’m dying right now. All the math. Plus how much time I spend blogging. wow. I didn’t know I liked you guys so much 😂😂

null

Did you enjoy this post? It was really fun to make… and very scary as well. I don’t think I can do math for another week- too bad I have to. 😂

I love you guys (I mean obviously… just kidding but still), see you on monday! ❤

Christina and Camera CHANGES

post featured image changespost featured image (1)

agg why do I have no idea how to start posts?

ANYWAY…. how was your weekend? Mine was great! My Dad was home, and a break from school is considered great no matter what, haha. On Friday, I talked about my goals for February (and I have already failed the journaling one… I didn’t journal on the 1st. I know, I’m a horrible person. Seriously. I might be able to catch up on that, but I don’t know, haha. And I ramble way too much.) but I also hinted at a couple fun new changes to Christina and Camera. Soo… here they are! I’ll also be sharing the results from my question about what posts y’all what to see.

Two posts per week// I’m changing up the amount of posts per week.  They’ll probably be a little shorter, but hopefully around the same length. I really want to get more content out there, and I love blogging, so we’ll see if this works out.

Email List// I seriously haven’t been able to use this like I wanted too. Most bloggers send out emails with their posts, but if I’m email subscribed to them too, it gets annoying. Soo… what do you guys want to see in the email list? The stuff that I normally put in there are things I want to feature on the blog, so I really don’t know! Maybe more personal stuff??? Honestly I have no idea.

More personal// Honestly, I’ve been treating blogging like a business. Posts have to be done by a certain date, I must have this amount of followers, I need to be as professional as possible, yada yada yada. While this mindset is great for some people (aka those who actually blog as their job) I really need to stop. Healthy goals//deadlines are great, but I don’t need them to be set in stone. Y’all’s favorites of my posts are generally the personal ones, and the impersonal, business-style posts don’t get much feedback. how did I just figure this out!?! Basically, I want to post more things that are peeks into my real life, and more things that are personal to you guys.

Post ideas// Here’s the part of the show post where larry comes out and sings a silly song I share the results for what you guys want to see. Plus does nobody get that reference? Please please someone get that reference. I don’t want to be the only Veggie Tales fan out there… *looks around awkwardly*

ANYWAYS.

I suggested 8  categories, and you guys also made up 2 more.

  1. Devotional//Bible study series 4 votes
  2.  DIY//Crafting 4 votes
  3. Desk tour//organization ideas 5 votes
  4. The Lego Vlogs 1 vote
  5. Book reviews 5 votes
  6. Tags//Q & A// Collabs 3 votes
  7. Recent photography 4 votes
  8. Planner//planning 5 votes
  9. Animal related one of your categories, 1 vote
  10. Movie reviews one of your categories, 1 vote

So. I’ll be sharing pretty much all of the categories with 4-5 votes this month (except Bible Study series, I’m still working on that, but hopefully I’ll be sharing that sometime in March or April.

SO.

Bye, see you all on Friday with another post! Please chat with me in the comments.

February Goals

post featured image goals for febuary.jpg

post featured image (1)

February is going to be a huge month for C & C (beware I’ll pretty much say this every single month in 2019… #sorrynotsorry ) and I’m super excited for it. Next week (on Monday, actually), I’ll be posting more about the fun new changes I have in store, but for now, I’ll be sharing my goals for February.

p e r s o n a l

01) Walk every day I’m probably (aka definitely) going to fail this one… but I want to try to take a walk every day.

02)  Read through Numbers I decided to read the entire bible in 2019 (halfway through January) and I actually JUST finished Genesis. If I want to stay on track, though, I need to read Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers this month. Ahhhh! I really really need to do this but it’s going to be hard. .

03)  Journal every day I’m going to fail this. lol. I really want to do this, but I’m awful at journaling//keeping up with it. I honestly don’t love writing about my day , but I’ll probably make it a mix of gratitude, prayer, and, of course, writing about my day.

b l o g g i n g

1)   Post every Monday and Friday You’ll learn more about this in Monday’s post, but I’m trying to post every week this month (and year)- twice!

2)  Send out emails every week I really need to use my email list… and figure out a way to integrate it with C & C.

null

Sorry that this post was so short.  I’m trying to post more often with less meaty posts (but not super short like this one )
