FEBRUARY INSPO | VALENTINES DAY!!

happy february friends! for me, the main event in february is valentine’s day (even though i’m single) because it’s a super fun holiday. the other thing that comes to mind when i think of february is falling off our goals. in january I think a lot of people are riding on the high of the new year and their goals/resolutions, so once that high goes away it can be hard to stay motivated. i’m also including some motivating quotes & productivity inspiration in this post. โค

glow up weekly 02: eat healthy

hey frens! welcome back to christina and camera and the second installment of “glow up weekly”. I’m so excited to share this week’s challenge with you guys, it’s something simple but I think it will be quite helpful! ๐Ÿ’›

if you’re new, read this post: your guide to a glow up {introduction}

today we’re going to be chatting about eating healthy which is something I think most of us (at least I do!) want to implement in our lives but aren’t exactly sure how.

I’m doing to talk about some myths about eating healthy, share some practical tips, and there will be a freebie at the end so you can plan out some healthy meals for yourself!

first off, I wanted to explain some myths about healthy eating that I’ve seen that have confused me. healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated or confusing, so I wanted to clear some things up ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. i only need to eat healthy if I want to lose weight – yeah no! the main reason to eat healthy and clean is to treat your body well, it does so much for us so we should at least put clean and good things into it! if you actually need to lose weight (talk to your doctor about it, I’m not a medical professional lol) than this can be something that could help BUT making good choices about what you eat is wayyy better for you than not eating/starving yourself. just a little reminder ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ˜‚
  2. eating “healthy” means I don’t get to eat my favorite foods/it is limiting and restricting – also no! honestly you can eat whatever you want as long as you do it in moderation and it doesn’t make you feel gross/sick!
  3. eating healthy is just a set of rules/diet plan – it’s not, actually! there’s no guidelines or rules, the main thing is just thinking about the things you eat. YOU get to make it whatever you want and feel is right for your body and situation. there are no rules or restrictions at all ๐Ÿ™‚

next, I wanted to share some practical tips for eating healthier in your everyday life! there are lots, so feel free to share some of your own in the comments ๐Ÿ’›

  • a lot of the time when I’m bored I want to snack even though I’m not hungry! drink some water and wait a few minutes before eating if you’re not sure you’re hungry, a lot of the time that is just all you needed.
  • eat breakfast! I see so many people who don’t and honestly this is not going to help you. eat something that will energize you (check out my post breakfast ideas (yummy, healthy, and simple))
  • drink more water. this is soo helpful and it fills you up so you won’t eat when you’re not actually hungry! if you struggle with drinking enough water here’s another blog post I wrote about that lol: how to drink more water (tips + reasons why) ๐ŸŒฟ
  • lots of fresh fruits and veggies. in my opinion fresh fruits and veggies are soo good, if you don’t really like them try some new ones and you just may find something you really like. make sure you’re (especially with fruits) buying ones in the right season so they’re at their prime. this is such a healthy snack!
  • try to limit soda and sugar. this can be hard, but limiting your soda will make you feel so much better! limiting sugar is even harder, but fresh fruits and vegetables that only have natural sugars is a great substitute for sugary snacks.
  • try new recipes! pinterest is a great place to find lots of easy and healthy ideas, all it takes is a quick search. fill your meals with variety and you will enjoy them so much more in my opinion.

now for the free printable! for this week i decided to create a meal planner for the week, it’s super simple and you can write down any meal ideas you have! I actually made two different ones, one has the actual day of the week on it so you can plan that way and the other one is just for ideas for different meals (breakfast, lunch, dinners, and snacks). I kept them with the same theme/design as last weeks to keep everything cohesive and fun ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you enjoy!

and of course I made them downloadable as pdfs too ๐Ÿ˜‰

are you enjoying this series? do you like the freebies? how do you eat healthy in your own life? fav meal ideas? share it all below ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡

journal entry 01: intentionality, summer goals, and screen time

Today I wanted to share a journal entry I recently made about intentionality, my summer goals, and screen time. My journal entries are basically blog posts (except more personal haha) and I try to make them something I would want to read again later. This doesnโ€™t mean I try to make them perfect and they usually end up being really long lists hehe. Without further ado, my completely unedited and unfiltered (and rather long) journal entry. Let me know if this is something youโ€™d like to see again in the future and I may share more!

Today I wanted to sit down and journal about my summer goals + how I want to be intentional this summer and screen time! Itโ€™s a lot but I think it all fits together.

My ultimate goal is: to be intentional with living out my purpose and to be loving and kind. To pursue my dreams, put God first in my life, act how I say I believe, be confident yet humble in Christ. For His love to abound through me and for me to grow in grace (philippians 1:9–11). And to have lots of fun and laughs along the way surrounded by those I love.

I wanted to separate this journal entry into sections, so:

  • My ultimate goal
  • What I can do to further that goal (specific goals/bucket list)
  • How i can be intentional this summer and what I mean by that
  • How technology/screens fits into that

Working towards that goal: specific goals + bucket list

  • Work on my spanish
  • Earn $100 ($64 more to go)
  • Have a random acts of kindness day
  • Read 5 books
  • Memorize the book of philippians
  • Watch when calls the heart
  • Get together with friends ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Wake up early and watch the sun rise
  • Practice cooking
  • Go camping
  • Have a spa day with friends
  • Bake something yummy
  • Journal
  • Finish couch to 5k
  • Find a sport/work hard/get good at it
  • Blog twice a week and create content youโ€™re proud of
  • Sleepover with cousins
  • Go night swimming
  • Go to a movie
  • Have a beach day
  • Have a campfire
  • No phone for a day
  • Make homemade pizza
  • Have a shopping day
  • Bike ride
  • All nighter hehe

Ways to be intentional this summer

  1. Put down your phone!

Make a list of things to do when you get bored instead of refreshing instagram

  1. journal

Write down goals, feelings, and experiences.

  1. devotions

Donโ€™t just read/study, actually learn and apply! Seek to live out your devos and make them an important part of your day

  1. Be positive and donโ€™t get down!! Be patient and hold your tongue :/
  2. Be healthy/glow up!!

workout/eat healthy(ier)/drink more water/skincare

Screen time

This is something I have been thinking a lot about lately and really want to be intentional with my screen time. Some ways i have thought of to get off my phone/be intentional:

  1. Have a rest day: my ultimate goal is for sundays to be zero screen usage. There is nothing you are missing out on AT ALL!! I may just power off for the whole day, we will see.
  2. Checklist before screens: my current checklist (may change) – morning routine, clean room, earn $2, pick up bathroom, start laundry, devotions, physical activity/workout, read a book, be helpful/encouraging
  3. Be intentional about what you do: even after you complete your checklist, be intentional! Goal: two hours per day at the most (this includes social media and blogging)

Acceptable things:

  • Blogging
  • When calls the heart (Iโ€™ve only watched a bit and donโ€™t have netflix, but I may get it just for this!) or bringing up bates
  • Having a goal/purpose before you turn it on
  • Checking social media sometimes
  • Reading an ebook

Iffy things (put it down and do something else, come back later if you really want to)

  • Checking social media all. The. time.
  • Scrolling for no reason/with no purpose
  • Being on screens past 10:30 (go to bed, girl!)

I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my journal! If you’d like to read more of this type of post, let me know and I may make it a series ๐Ÿ’›

do you have summer goals or a bucket list? any thoughts about intentionality and screen time? do you keep a journal? is it basically just lists like mine? #typeA
