hello & welcome to or welcome back to christina raquel!! i hope you’re all having an amazing day <33
recently I’ve been doing a TON of reading (like 10 books a week) and i’ve been loving it. without having school i’ve had so much more time and it’s been so nice to just relax with a book. even if you don’t like to read, these books are so good and you will for sure fall in love with at least one. today i’m sharing some of my favorite books that have lots of summery vibes and are perfect to read in the summertime!

the summer i turned pretty trilogy
JUST THE FIRST BOOK – Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer—they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.
starting off with a bang… this series is one of my all time favorites and for sure my absolute favorite to read in the summertime. i LOVE jenny han (to all the boys i’ve loved before is another one of my favorite series of all time). i read this series last summer and wanted to reread it so bad this spring but forced myself to wait until summer. definitely going to reread them every summer. if you read anything from this post, READ THIS. i promise, you’ll love it.

love and gelato
“I made the wrong choice.”
Lina is spending the summer in Tuscany, but she isn’t in the mood for Italy’s famous sunshine and fairy-tale landscape. She’s only there because it was her mother’s dying wish that she get to know her father. But what kind of father isn’t around for sixteen years? All Lina wants to do is go back home.
But then she is given a journal that her mom had kept when she lived in Italy. Suddenly Lina’s uncovering a magical world of secret romances, art, and hidden bakeries. A world that inspires her, along with the ever-so-charming Ren, to follow in her mother’s footsteps and unearth a secret that has been kept for far too long. It’s a secret that will change everything she knew about her mother, her father—and even herself.
People come to Italy for love and gelato, someone tells her, but sometimes they discover much more.
i read this book for the first time the other day and i’m obsessed with it. basically mamma mia in book form and set in italy. i want to go to italy so badly now and try all the delicious flavors of gelato & see everything. this book has the best summer vibes and i will definitely be rereading it! if you want a light but intriguing book to bring on vacation or read at the beach this is the book for you.

we were liars
A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.
We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from New York Times bestselling author, National Book Award finalist, and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.
Read it.
And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.
i read this for the first time recently and it was so good. idk why it gives me summer vibes.. but be warned, it’s not light and fluffy like the other books in this post lol. veryyy suspenseful and the ending is shocking. but it gives me summer vibes (probably because it’s set during the summer at a beach) and i highly reccomend it.

american royals series
(JUST THE FIRST BOOK)
What if America had a royal family?
When America won the Revolutionary War, its people offered General George Washington a crown. Two and a half centuries later, the House of Washington still sits on the throne.
As Princess Beatrice gets closer to becoming America’s first queen regnant, the duty she has embraced her entire life suddenly feels stifling.
Nobody cares about the spare except when she’s breaking the rules, so Princess Samantha doesn’t care much about anything, either . . . except the one boy who is distinctly off-limits to her.
And then there’s Samantha’s twin, Prince Jefferson. If he’d been born a generation earlier, he would have stood first in line for the throne, but the new laws of succession make him third. Most of America adores their devastatingly handsome prince . . . but two very different girls are vying to capture his heart.
these books aren’t really set in the summer, but i feel like they’re great summer reads because they’re pretty light and fluffy. majesty, the second book, feels more summery for sure but they’re both great books.

90 days of different
On the last day of high school, Sophie’s boyfriend breaks up with her. It turns out he thinks she is too predictable, too responsible, too mature…too boring.
When Sophie turns to her best friend, Ella, for comfort and reassurance, Ella just confirms what her boyfriend has said. And that hurts even more.
Then Ella comes up with a plan to help Sophie find her wilder side before college. In the ninety days between the end of high school and the start of university, she is going to arrange for Sophie to do amazing, new, different and sometimes scary things. Sophie has to agree to everything no matter what. And she has to share her adventures through social media.
Can ninety days of different create a different life? Can stepping outside your comfort zone help you find yourself?
super light and not one of my all time favs but i’ve read this a couple times and it’s a great book! this book is set during the summer and is pretty fun.

I wanna read Love and Gelato!
As far as my reading taste, I don’t typically read a lot of books like this. I’m more into fantasy, sci-fi, or mystery.

I was looking on Goodreads today and I found a book called “Kisses and Croissants”, and it’s supposed to be like a French version of Love and Gelato by a different author! I haven’t read either but they’re both on my to-read list. I think if you liked Love and Gelato you would definitely enjoy Kisses and Croissants!
