hey guys! drinking more water is something everyone talks about but actually doing it is hard in my opinion. sometimes you don’t like the taste of water or it’s hard to remember to drink it. today I’m sharing some tips for drinking more water that I’ve used personally and know work 🌿
why?
before we begin, I wanted to share some of the benefits of drinking water and reasons why you should do it. I think most of us know that water is good for you, but some of the things it benefits are crazy!
-
- your skin will literally be glowing (no, really!)
- if you’re trying to eat healthier, it fills you up so you don’t snack as much (this has helped me SO much! I used to snack a ton but since I started drinking water I haven’t been)
- better sleep
- your cycle will be way better, if you have bad symptoms I would highly recommend drinking water
- it actually relieves stress and helps you perform better (when studying or working on a project, for example)
I think we’re all agreed that water has some great benefits, but how do we drink more?
get a pretty water bottle
if you just use random cups around your house, you won’t feel as motivated to drink water. having a pretty water bottle to carry with you and keep full is a great way to make sure you drink more! (here’s an inexpensive but super cute option on amazon)
track your water intake
whether it’s with a printable from pinterest, app (I use flo for cycle tracking and recently found it also has a water tracker on it, so I’ve been using that), or a simple chart in a journal, tracking the amount of water you drink is an essential.
add some fresh fruit or lemon
if you don’t love the taste of plain water, adding some lemon, cucumbers, or fresh fruit is still just as healthy but you might prefer the taste. there are lots of combinations you could try (some ideas I love: citrus and cucumber, mango and raspberry, grapefruit and mint, and kiwi + watermelon) and you can experiment with lots of different recipes until you find one you love.
make it part of your routine
making drinking water part of your routine will make it so much easier! for example, you could tell yourself to take a sip of water every time you finish a chapter while reading, as soon as you wake up, every time you check social media, or whenever you finish a certain subject in school. if you make it part of your routine, it will slowly become second nature and you won’t even have to remind yourself.
keep your water bottle near you
if you have to walk across the room or house to get your water bottle, drinking water won’t seem easy or simple. keep your water bottle with you all the time and you’ll find that it’s a lot easier.
set goals
for example, you could make a goal to track your cups of water for a month. or you could set the goal of drinking 64 oz per day or a certain number of full water bottles. set a goal that’s good for you (we know ourselves best, after all!) and work hard to meet it. you’ll feel so accomplished!
take it slow
you don’t have to drink a gallon of water every day. seriously. drink however much makes you feel good, no matter how much that may be, and increase it over time. don’t feel pressured to drink a certain amount if it doesn’t make you feel good, and remember that you have plenty of time to drink more. start small, guys.
fill it up as soon as you finish
every time you empty your water bottle, get up and refill it. that simple act will soon become second nature and it will increase the amount you drink so much! make getting up and filling your water bottle part of your day, and you won’t ever forget.
set up a reminder on your phone
if you’re like me, you’re on your phone quite a bit (oops) and have it with you pretty much the whole day. set up a reminder at different times of the day or every hour or so to drink some water. you can delete the reminders once it becomes part of your routine, but at first this is so helpful!
if you have any questions feel free to ask them below! love you guys and hope you have a great day/week 💛 xo

Wonderful tips!! I keep on telling myself that I should drink more water, but since I don’t really like the plain taste of it that much, I don’t drink as much as I should. I will definitely be using these tips from now on, though! ❤

It’s crazy how water is so crazy good for you! Haha. Thanks for the water drinking motivation- I have a big mason jar with water, ACV, lemon oil, ginger, and stevia with me right now. It’s a great detox drink and tastes pretty good. I got it from Chloe @ Short & Sweet blog. Thanks for sharing Christina!

Okay but this is amazing!!! Ramadan just ended and during the month I had to really get my water intake and plan it out throughout the night so I got in the habit of drinking water after prayers and dinner and wherever possible! I love all these tips. I will say that I tried putting lemon and lime in my water recently but every time I did that I would wake up at night with the worse stomach ache. I don’t know why but when I stopped the lemon, my stomach was back to normal. maybe my digestive system doesn’t like it?? I don’t know but amazing tips!! Tysmm!! ❤

Glad to see that the both of us have similar routines when it comes to drinking water! I also track using the flo app and have been doing so for a few years now.
My water bottle is by sol and I love that it’s glass! No nasty plastic chemicals seeping in and polluting my water. I usually put lemon slices in it to add flavour or small amounts of juice.
