hey guys! since we’re all in quarantine I thought I would share some self care ideas. I think this is a great time to step back, refresh, and take care of yourself, so here are some ways to do that 💛
take a walk – walking is a great way to take care of yourself and it’s something super simple you can do around your neighborhood! it will clear your head and make you feel more relaxed and energetic too.
read allll the books – I know everyone (definitely me!) has a super long list of books to read, and I don’t mean you have to read all of them, but reading a good book is a great way to relax 💛
do something artsy – whatever that may be for you! art can be so many different things, like dance, music, painting, drawing, handlettering, crafting, sewing, watercolors… there are so many things! you could try a whole new thing or do something you already know you love.
take a class/learn about something you’ve always wanted to do – if you’ve always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, take great pictures on your camera, or decorate cakes… now is the time! this is a great way to care for yourself and learn more about your strengths and weaknesses. pick a topic you’re interested in and look up online classes or youtube videos about it. find a book or talk to someone who’s really good at that thing! there are so many different ways to learn about something new so take advantage of that.
take a bath – start some calm music, light a candle or two, grab a bath bomb, and set aside 30 minutes to an hour to relax by taking a bath. you could play your favorite show, read a book (honestly I don’t know how people do this though – I feel like I would drop my book and ruin it lol) or just sit and relax. this might not be for everyone but it’s a great way to slow down and refresh.
do a face mask/care for your skin – our skin takes a beating when we’re rushed and busy! caring for it is a great way to make yourself feel better. plus if you put a face mask on you get some time not doing anything so while you have it on you could journal, take a nap (not necessarily sleeping, just lay down and close your eyes… bonus if you put cucumber slices on your eyelids lol) or read a book.
watch one of your favorite movies – watching a favorite movie you’ve watched lots of times will bring back great memories and in my opinion, it’s a great way to take care of yourself! pop some popcorn and grab some fresh fruit (who else thinks fruit is SO good when you eat it with popcorn? just me lol?) and play your favorite movie.
do a social media detox – don’t get me wrong, I love social media, but sometimes it takes up too much of our time and can mess with our emotions (like feeling comparison or guilt). taking a break is something I think we should all do, whether it’s deleting the app for a week or month or deciding not to go on it for a day. spend the time praying, journaling, and taking care of yourself (like using these ideas) and you will feel so great!
relax with your family – sometimes family time isn’t that relaxing (I get it, I have four siblings and our house is crazy!) but make it a point to have some time to relax and bond with your family. you could go for a walk, play a board or card game together, or watch a movie.
do yoga/stretch – this is a great way to physically take care of yourself! if you don’t feel up to a workout try some light yoga or stretching and maybe start a morning and night stretching routine to get more flexible/relax your body.
journal/make lists – this might only be for type A people like me, but making lists is a great way to take care of yourself! sometimes you have so much stuff going on in your brain and just writing it all down helps you empty all the extra stuff out and close the tabs in your mind 💛
